Arena 6 - The Undernet (Bracket One)

[Speedy]

Description:
Considering our contestants are not quite digital, (though that WAS allowed,) a large area of the undernet has been recreated, hyperactive backgrounds included. The artificial gravity will keep players on the platforms, and upon falling off they'd better hope to fall on a different level of the Undernet, or they'll fall into the black sludge at the bottom, and lose the match. While even viruses have been recreated, they are nothing more but background distractions, as they as walking (or stomping or flying) around, unable to harm the fighters.. and will not do so either.

Second Round, First Bracket.
Contestants:

[Trismegustis]

Z5i31 stands at the ready.

[Hawkye]

Hawkye is leaning against a wall in the tournament complex when he hears the announcement.

"Hawkye Narasumas, please report to Arena Six."

Hawkye pushes off the wall, and a hand-held device vanishes from his hands.

"About time."

Striding onto the teleportation platform, he awaits the beginning of the match.

[Speedy]

Suddenly, in front of each teleportation platform, a large LCD screen popped up from the floor, displaying a live feed from the arena.

A description for the arena marquees over the bottom of the screen, and both teleportators activate, with a small red button popping from the consoles, saying 'GO'.

A compartment also pops out under the bottom, revealing a small device with a minimap. While this arena is quite big, it ends rather abruptly as there are no connections to other areas. The map only displays the current floor.

[Hawkye]

The teleporter Hawkye is standing on activates and takes him to the arena.

"The Undernet. Huh. Okay then."

He begins to survey the area while waiting for his opponent.

[Trismegustis]

Z5i31 is somewhat less incautious. He looks over the screen's view of the stage. It's.... a wicked-looking place, with spikes and dark colors and fluctuating colors. Reds and blacks and silvers. And what looks like lava.

He reaches back into his arsenal, which has been lain by the side of the teleporter. Combo Bazooka again. Gamelike situations require gamelike solutions. He shoulders it, and reaches out for the small device. His antenna sparks wildly.

"Downloading map data..."

Finally, he lets it orbit around his "hand," climbs onto the telepad, and presses the button.

[Hawkye]

Hawkye had just completed his own survey when he saw Zeefive appear.

"Oh hi."

Hawkye found himself unable to stop himself from grinning.

"I take it you're not here for a game of Ol' Janx Spirit."

[Trismegustis]

Z5i31 lands on the platform with a heavy CLUNK, and looks first at the orbiting minimap... He gets his own location from it immediately, and logs it into his own mental map of the building. And then he looks up.

"Oh hi. I take it you're not here for a game of Ol' Janx Spirit."

Z5i31 laughs loudly as his gravydrives activate and he begins to float. The minimap device is crushed and explodes into pieces around his hand... He tosses the pieces over the side.

"Sorry, pal, not today. You ready to go?"

[Hawkye]

"Anytime."

Hawkye extends his hand in an offer of a friendly bout.

[Trismegustis]

Z5i31 extends his own arm to Hawkye, and when it's close enough, Hawkye can feel the soft, encompassing, unyielding grip of gravity pressing down on his hand from all directions... Z5i31's handshake. He shakes Hawkye's hand.

"So... Handshake judo to start the bout, then?"

He grins and the gravity presses down a little harder, as if a challenge.

[Hawkye]

Hawkye smirks.

"That's a new one."

Hawkye fights the pressure pound for pound until he suddenly yanks his hand in the opposite direction.

[Trismegustis]

Z5i31's foot gravity drives are strong enough to keep him from being tugged off the ground, but he does sliiide along the ground. His other arm reaches out to stabilize against the air... Then his grip strength increases and he twists sharply to the right, pulling on Hawkye's hand and jutting out his other hand as if ready to catch Hawkye over his head.

[Hawkye]

Hawkye also sliiiiides along the ground.

"Wheeeeeee!"

A thin layer of ice had formed around Hawkye's shoes, making them nearly frictionless. Zeefive always seemed to bring out fun and happiness in Hawkye, even in this circumstance.

Hawkye uses his momentum to slide a good distance away, then turns sharply enough to break the distance-weakened gravitic control.

"Well, I think I'm warmed up!" He looks down at his shoes. "So to speak."

[Trismegustis]

Z5i31 seems to slide back from loss of grip at first, but it's quickly clear that he's backing up without turning around. He stops a few feet further back, legs in a wide stance, arms at his sides.

"Funny, so am I!"

His chest panel opens to reveal a rocket of freudian proportions, shining a polished red against the dull glow of the undernet floor panels.

"Incoming!"

The Clumsy Robot fired a rocket!

[Hawkye]

"Huzzah!"

Hawkye draws his pistols, bringing them up near his head.

"RPG."

The guns remodulate themselves to deliver their explosive payload, and Hawkye points them at the incoming rocket and fires. For the instant before the two small missiles collided with the large one, it looked that much more Freudian.
